DGT:  Can you tell me about the song, “Take Me Home”, and the radio airtime it has been getting since June 1?  Like what stations are carrying it etc.

RW:  “Take Me Home” is a song I wrote for one of my former Joes and friends, Jesse Williams, whom I served with in Iraq, while deployed with my Recon Sniper unit in 5-20 INF Battalion out of Fort Lewis, Wa.  I was injured in a firefight and then was medically discharged shortly thereafter. After the unit returned home from the deployment.  Jesse, after a couple of promotions, returned to Iraq as a Squad Leader and Staff Sgt. and was then killed in a firefight.  Leaving behind his wife Sonja and a 5-month-old baby girl, whom he only got to see for 5 weeks of her life.  This story really touched my heart.  He was a good friend.  I have lost multiple friends and fellow soldiers while in the Army, but this one really hurt.  My heart really cried out for him and his family so I decided to write a song about it.  It’s my tribute and thank-you to him and his family.Right now the song is being released as my first radio single.  96.9 FM out of Olympia, Wa. is the first station to be playing the song.  They are big supporters of our music and the song.  They started at the beginning of June.  My management (Perry Music Group) is in the process of releasing it to 115 different radio stations as we speak.  As well as the other local Seattle Country Stations.  I believe it will be available through them by July.  For a lot of stations it will take friends and fans to call in and request the song so we can get more radio play.

DGT:  Can you tell me more about the new CD” Is there a particular track that means more than the others to you”

RW:  The CD is in production right now, and is almost finished.  It is a very Strong sounding Country album.  With our personal touch and mix of Gospel, Country, and Southern Rock sounds.  All but one song on the album I wrote.  The one I didn’t write is “When You Call His Name” it was co-written by international hit-songwriter Wayne Perry, who is my manager’s father.  He has written several number one Country and Pop songs.
As far as which one means the most to me, that’s a tough question since I write mostly out of experience or personal issues.  But it would be a close 4-way tie between “Take Me Home”, “Stepping Stones to You”, “Take These Chains from Me”, and “It’s Only Good Bye In Your Mind”.  Well actually, when I really think about it my favorite song on the album is “Don’t Cry Down There For Me”.  It is a very personal song that I wrote for my Mother last year, over the death of my older brother and best friend Jesse Marunde.  I wrote it in hopes to help with everyone’s grieving.  Jesse was an internationally recognized Strong Man, finishing Second place in the Worlds Strongest Man contest 3 years ago.  He passed away of a Massive Heart Attack, caused from an enlarged heart, while training with his training partners.  So that one hits home real hard since I, myself am still grieving.

DGT:  Perry Music Group head Bryan Wayne Perry is very proud of you.  They believe that you will be one of the next huge Country Stars.  What do you think of that, and does it help to have that kind of enthusiasm behind you?

RW:  It is actually AWESOME!!  It is one of the greatest feelings in the world to have people believe in you and your talents.  But the feeling is even more incredible when the people believing in you are people in the industry, who have been there, done that, and helped some of the biggest names in Country and Pop radio.  Bryan and his family are great. Bryan himself has a huge heart and is very motivated. Which is nice cause it is very hard to find people who will work as hard as you will for your own goal.  He is already a huge part of my success as a musician and I thank him and his family for all they have done already.

DGT:  Your very lively on stage, engaging the audience and such, are you always that outgoing, or is that part of your stage presence?

RW:  Believe it or not, that’s me 24 hours a day, lol.  Ever since I was a kid I have been high energy and hard to keep up with.  When I was in high school, if I was disruptive the teachers made me run around the high school or go to P.E. because my wrestling coach was one of the P.E. teachers, so he would have me do wrestling drills and what not.  Which of course encouraged me to be disruptive, lol. Just kidding.  However, this was probably one of the big roles in me being on of the top high school wrestlers in the country.  Year round training, lol.  When I was in the ARMY everyone said I needed to be an entertainer.  Everyone I am around, swear I’m on crack and if I had a dime for every time someone said, “If I could bottle you up and sell you as an energy drink”, I would be filthy rich, lol.  But on a serious note, I love being an entertainer and having the ability to get a crowds attention.  It is one of the greatest feelings to be on stage and in control of the situation.  My goal at every one of my shows, is to make sure everyone leaves that night, being “Wowed” and having an unforgettable experience.  I believe you have to set yourself apart from your competition, so I try my best to go above and beyond what anyone else does at their shows.  As long as I am performing, my goal is 110 percent enjoyment.  I don’t want people to have a bad time, “not on my watch.”

DGT:  Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

RW:  Well, God willing, at the top of the charts.  I want to be a household name.  I want to have top songs in Country, Pop, and Gospel radio.  I don’t want my musical endeavor to be short lived.  I want to have hit songs, but most of all I want my music to touch people.  I hope that my writing and performances, whether it be 5 years, 10 years, or 50 years, will stand out to people.  That my songs will help people in situations or hard times.  Make them smile, laugh, or cry.  I know I was given a powerful gift and I hope that I please God; in the way the way I use it every day.

DGT:  What advice do you have for other young artists trying to make it today?

RW:  Put all your eggs in one basket!  Surround yourself with like minds and talents, and you have to be willing to sacrifice and go that extra mile.

DGT:  Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions Robbie!
