It's All About The Music

Just Discovered

                  CAMPFIRE OK

I may have just been introduced to one of the best cutting edge and melodic new groups of recent years, a band with a strange but inviting name - CAMPFIRE OK. The group hails from sunny, OK I mean freezing Seattle Washington and is being promoted through XO Publicity in Portland Oregon. Now signed with Ana-Them records, Campfire OK is a band that actually knows how to construct an intelligent melody, write decent lyrics and sing in perfect harmony without the aid of a pitch-correction machine in the studio. Don't believe me just see for yourself and visit their website and Myspace pages. There you will find a video that shows this very organic and talented group of artists performing their song," Strange Like We Are". And you know what I like about this? There's no PA, nothing plugged in, only the condenser mic from the hand held consumer grade video camera to capture the real deal live! The laid back, yet intensive care given to the oohs and ahhs, the gentle plucking on the banjo against the acoustic guitars and piano all blend together into a musical smoothie ready to drink, and worthy of your purchase. Well that's my pick of the week, CAMPFIRE OK. Check out their websites, friend them, tweet and share this band with your mother and your schoolmates. Warm and embracing, progressive music,Campfire OK is the one to watch.

DAVID CHURCH: RISING STAR!

David Church is a rare entertainment entity, in that he not only is an outstanding songwriter
and performing artist in his own right,  but he is also known throughout America to do
the absolute best tribute to Hank Williams Sr. that anyone has ever seen! I grew up listening
to Hank Williams, back when Country music was quite different to today's evolution of the
genre and the music was simple and down home. In fact,  singer-songwriter's like Hank Sr.
never had the luxury of formal educations or even lessons on their instruments. They just
figured it out. And, like the Blues music being preserved today by many folks of different
backgrounds and abilities in music for the sheer love of the style and maybe the lyrics,
David  Church comes along with a pure love of Hank William's music and he pays an
honest homage to the man and performs the songs and creates a visual presentation
that is absolutely dazzling to witness! And, if that were all that David could do in this
music business, one would think that's quite an accompaniment, but David away
from his alter-ego as a tribute artist can do something that 99.9% of other tribute
artists will never do in their lifetimes and that is be able to stand on their own
with their own music. And that my friends makes for a very powerful package!
Check out David Church on Reverb Nation and his other sites. I think you're
going to love his voice, his songs and performance on video.
My Rising Star pick for the month of November, David Church.

Yogi McCaw and his band the Yogini's defy genre but I will go with
what is being said all over the country - that they play Jazz, Latin, Samba
Folk, Ethnic, Fusion, Experimental and everything and anything one
could imagine. There seem to be no boundaries with their music but
until we have a complete interview with Mr. McCaw, we will leave it
to our readers to read about, listen to and decide for yourselves if
there is a genre table to which they could be based. For this writer
I believe their music is Yogicertobeatomelodious! Works for me.

ALICE EVANS
This young lady comes to us today from a posting she made in the Seattle Washington Craigslist. Her ad was well written, giving just the right amount of information to open my curiosity and visit her website at Myspace. Once there I found myself listening to her original music over and over again, which I rarely do or simply have not the time for. However, Alice's TANGO knocked me off my feet and I probably would have looked for my dance partner had I not become so enthralled in the lyrics. Alice Evans was looking for a guitar-player who could get into her music and catch her vision. Well you guys with the guitars better put your glasses on so you might well see just how far this songstress is heading. And she's going with or without you so you'd better pay attention. Alice Evans, with her beautiful, soft and subtly sexy voice and well-crafted songs will be on the forefront of Pop music for decades to come.
