Getting back to my musical forte METAL, PUNK and ALTERNATIVE
This is firelyn (me!) Getting back to the music that is my genres of choice ... it’s always been the 'HARD' stuff, you know not just Hard, HARD, RAW, SEXY- the styles vary...Fast, Scary, Sad Psychedelic. My four top bands of all time are Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Blondie, and Metallica. now I’m not just writing for damngoodtunes but thanx to CCCollege Afterburn has a radio show on KCED Centralia 91.3fm: currently on thurs&fris 7-9pm (in the summer it will be thur). NOW I’VE BEEN trying to create something here—get more support for the incredible local and regional talent that is happening here right under our noses.
If i get my way the musical trek through the Pacific North West will soon include regular stops in Lewis co. AND even more importantly the homegrown will regularly make (4 starters) the Portland through to Seattle-bringing some much deserved attention to this area. More to come on that cuz right now I have something extremely exciting to write about.

"Severed Few" is a favorite local band that got me excited. They were MY inspiration to finally start this project though maybe project isn’t the right word for what I along with damngoodtunes are going to do; but im getting off track. those who’ve read my stuff know I do that sometimes but it all actually makes sense un the end.
I want everybody living within at least a 90-mile radius of Lewis co. Wash you be ready to come to the upcoming show @Rumers in (addr.)Chehalis so all of you Metal lovers out there will know what all of us local headbangers already know: “SEVERED FEW” ’is tight’. The words I’ve heard from the females –the most often description is…”they ARE Sexy!” & even if you aren’t a girl and you don’t have metal in your blood you WILL want to be there ‘cuz that is where the girls WILL be!
All that aside this three piece really rocks; I’ve recently had the honor of being at two of their rehearsals and take it from a girl who knows her music; I slept in my dad’s guitar case@ his rehearsals when I was a baby, raised on classic rock and roll but always knowing the music that came before rock, I have played all kinds of music. I know the difference between good music and lucky ‘musicians’ I’m telling you all “SEVERED FEW makes music you can get lost in-I actually don’t want to go too far into their music today “SEVERED FEW” is a band I will be writing about for quite a while.
What I do want to do is get all of you excited for their show at Rumors in Chehalis, WA on JUNE4TH starting at 8pm, get there early- this show is special!!
“SEVERED FEW” is going to be Recorded LIVE by none other than damngoodtune.com’s CREATOR the Editor in Chief Bruce Maier…not only that but they will also be doing a VIDEO by yours truly…firelyn
And an added Bonus~ Hot’n Bothered will also do what they do – a bit different than “SEVERD FEW”, but good in their own right also playing at the same show, plus Defying Eden. I haven’t heard them yet but I’m looking forward to seeing the WHOLE Show. Which may include another band – I mean I’m telling you ALL – 90mile radios – MARK THE DAY, JUNE4th@Rumers 543 NW Pacific Ave Chehalis, WA. Show starts at 8pm

Absent Minds
When I was a baby, I used to sleep in my father’s guitar case during rehearsal. The first time I performed on stage, I was three years of age. I sang, “You are my Sunshine” at a state fair in Chico, Ca. I wrote my first song before even doing the fair gig, it was about Bigfoot.
I love music. I love writing so why not write about the music I love most? When my father told me about his idea, “damngoodtunes.com” a webzine that covers and supports all genres of independent musicians, producers as well as technical equipment used by small labels and do-it-yourselfers, etc. I thought to myself that is something I would love to be involved in.
Although damngoodtunes.com has already attracted some of the best music writers, including my youngest sister
“ Trinity Lost “ ( Rap and Hip-Hop ) , each writer covering a wide array of genres and sub-genres, what I am doing is a little more difficult to name but it’s basically a combo of hardcore new age psychedelic punk and moody lyric driven music w/dark undertones. The kind of stuff Edgar Allen Poe probably would have written, if he were a musician of today.
I’m working the story right now and
“ the big boss “, dear old dad just called up and said” hey, where’s that article?”. Journalism is harder than it looks, but writing is what I love and music is my passion. Soon I hope all of you will check out my story about the true “Godfathers of Punk”. In the mean time, you can’t imagine how it feels to be involved in what is destined to be a truly unique family business. I hope you will all feel free, to send in any comments you might have.
